Carseats

Help! Its time for Ruby to sit in a forward facing car seat and I have no idea which one to get! Why are there sooo many options, I am an incredibly indecisive person and making purchases like this are very hard for me. I want one that will last through all of our kids or at least most of them...so quality is very important. Please give me some advice...

Britax marathon hands down. You'll love it...make sure you buy the new one that came out in January because they just changed their carseats and the new one is so much easier to adjust the straps on...plus it can be rear or forward facing and up to 65 lbs or something like that. Also, make sure you buy a new one, not a used one if you want it to last since carseats expire after 6 years...if you look on them they will have the date they were manufactured on a sticker on the base of the carseat...they are a bit pricey but safety is worth every penny. You can find them on amazon at a discount price every now and then...britax marathon....if your car isn't very big, then a britax roundabout...you'll love either one!

We're doing the same thing right now, but just this week I got an e-mail saying that the AAP has now recommended that children stay rear facing until they're 2 years old, since it supports their head and spine in case of an accident. They say that even if their legs are bent, its safer this way.

So now we're on the hunt for a backwards seat (that will hopefully convert to face forward later on) that will fit Carter's weight and our budget. I'll let you know if we find anything great.

Here's a link to the article if you want to check it out:

Good luck!

I agree with Ang.....I have the Britax Marathon for both of my kids and love it! Definitly get the new version, it is so much easier to install. It is pricey, but it really is worth it. It is so easy to clean and keep looking nice. It is really heavy and bulky - but easy to move into different cars. I love it. I got both of mine from Albee Baby and it was cheaper then anywhere else. Scarletts is the cow one, and Levi has the tan snakeskin one. This size of carseat should last then till they are like 5 too. Love you

Me and all my sisters love the Alpha Omega Elites. THey aren't super price but they hold up really well. You can keep them in in for a long time but I already switched Gavin out of his and into a booster seat with a high back so Drew could have his Alpha Omega. Good Luck purchasing... she will LOVE being forward facing... and so will you!

We just bought the maxi cosi priori. We love our stroller and infant car seat from the same company. It reclines and can be facing forward or backward. It got really good reviews, but isn't as much as the Britax ones. I let Michael do all the research, and I have been happy with everything he has chosen.

The Prices do the Graco - Nautilus 3-in-1 Multi-Use Car Seat. It has a Extended 5-point harness, Converts into high-back belt positioning booster then Converts into backless booster. It reclines & is Machine-washable. We love it because it can be used up until 100 lbs or what ever the age is for car seats (8?). We will never have to buy another for each kid and it keeps them SAFE in a 5 point harness. I think all humans should have a 5 point harness.
